Susan Carroll
Founder, Carroll Law Group, PLLC

Family Law, including dissolutions, prenuptial agreements, property settlements, child custody, parenting plans, paternity, adoptions, and child support.
When you need to resolve family law issues, Susan Carroll can provide legal advice and stand by your side throughout the process as your legal advocate and representative. She assists clients by acting as their representative in negotiations with other parties outside of court or before a judge if needed. She also helps clients represent themselves or can act as a collaborative attorney in cases where the parties have agreed not to rely on the courts.
Susan graduated from the University of Washington School of Law where she was Executive Comments Editor for the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal, extern for Washington Supreme Court Justice Mary E. Fairhurst, and the administrative assistant for the Washington State Bar Association's Ethics 2003 Special Committee. She is a previous chair of the KCBA Family Law Section, was twice selected as the KCBA Volunteer of the Year for her family law advocacy and mentorship, and was selected by her peers as a Superlawyers© Rising Star for five years.
Prior to law school, she worked in the arts, for independent bookstores, and in the computer industry working with complex data structures in banking, securities trading, and utility/industry grid software. Susan earned her undergraduate degree from Purdue University; she graduated with honors and a triple-major in English Literature, Professional Writing, and Creative Writing. A desire to use her analytic skills help people in crisis led Susan to law school where she pursued family law studies.
In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time with her family; she loves reading, writing, cooking, and getting as far out into the wilderness as possible. Susan led the University Bookstore-Bellevue reading group for over ten years and always keeps a good book close at hand.
Amy Phillips

Family Law actions, including adoptions, prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, dissolutions, child custody, modifications, child support, and domestic violence protective orders. She also represents parents and children in dependency proceedings.
Estate Planning, including wills, trusts, healthcare power of attorney, and more.
Tax Law, responding to letters from the IRS, past tax settlements, and audits.
Employment Law, including wrongful termination, severance negotiation, review of non-compete or complex employment agreements.
Amy enjoys putting her diverse background to work for clients. She feels strongly that her legal expertise, her experience with financial matters, and knowledge of tax regulations make her uniquely suited to find the best solution to complex legal and financial challenges many families face. She is passionate about finding the best solution for each client. While collaborative outcomes can be best when possible, having begun her legal career representing companies at a big NYC corporate firm, Amy has the trial experience to handle cases that cannot be resolved amicably. Amy understands how impersonal the law can seem in matters with deep personal impact and strives to ensure her clients are informed of both the process of the law as well as how various legal outcomes may impact them financially.
Amy represents clients in family law actions including adoptions, prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, dissolutions, child custody, modifications, child support and domestic violence protective orders. She also has experience representing parents and children in dependency proceedings. Amy helps families prepare for the future through estate planning with special emphasis on the intersection with tax law. She also represents employees who have been wrongfully terminated or who need to negotiate severance, non-compete or employment agreements.
Amy is an adoptive mother of 6 kids and has been a foster parent to many more. She enjoys a close relationship with the biological parents of many of the children she has parented over the years. These personal relationships and experiences give her a unique perspective into diverse family dynamics and the impact on children when the adults in their world disagree.
Diana Thibado
Attorney
Diana Thibado‘s practice focuses on Estate Planning and Collaborative Law and Mediation for divorcing and separating families. She prioritizes guiding and supporting families with compassion and empathy. Diana brings her skills developing durable creative solutions that she built during her more than a decade working in the nonprofit sector.
She previously served as Executive Director of Crooked Trails and helped reestablish state funding for the State of Washington Tourism. Her law degree is from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. and her undergraduate degree is from Auburn University.
She enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the Pacific Northwest, especially with her two young children and watching their love of adventure grow.
